Feeding the body certain foods can keep immunity high. The robust immunity system strengthening foods include garlic, citrus and bell peppers. If you thought that eating your way to good health is a myth, think again.

Citrus's Lemony Power
Many folks turn to vitamin C after getting a cold. But citrus also tops immunity boosting foods found in nature. If you want your immunity system to function at 100 percent, you need to ensure that lemons and oranges form a part of your diet. Vitamin C is directly linked to the production of leucocytes or white blood cells that fend off infections. Vitamin C is ideal for good health. It is also easy to add this ingredient to any soup, salad or dish.

Red Bell Peppers Are Full of Energy
Red bell peppers have twice as much vitamin C as any other source of food. But apart from this immunity-boosting vitamin, it also contains beta carotene which keeps the skin and the eyes in good health.

Broccoli is Best for Health
Green and leafy, broccoli has many vitamins and vital minerals that protect the body. It is high in vitamins E, C and A. This is one of the healthiest vegetables to place on the table.

Garlic is Good
Garlic is anti-inflammatory. It is also perfect for boosting the immunity system. From ancient times, civilizations have been using garlic as a form of cuisine. Garlic also lowers cholesterol and prevents artery hardening. Immune boosting properties come from the heavy concentration of allicin, a compound high in sulphur.

Ginger is Wonderful
Ginger is another ideal food to ward off low immunity and increase the ability of the body to ward off infections. Ginger packs heat in the guise of gingerol, which is akin to capsaicin. Chili peppers contain heat and possess properties to lower cholesterol.

Spinach is Splendid
Spinach contains vitamin C as well as a host of other antioxidants plus beta carotene. The latter which is also found in pumpkins and carrots is perfect for the warding off of germs and fend off infections.

Yoghurt is for You
Probiotic yoghurt is the perfect choice for those who want to stimulate the immune system to fend off diseases. These cultures will boost then the immune system to fend off diseases.

Conclusion
Some of the other immunity boosting foods include green tea and turmeric. The latter also possesses anti-cancer properties. All in all, eating right can be the perfect way to stay healthy.

Two Thoughts on Natural Resource and Emissions

8/30/2014

Economic growth of any nation largely depends on the pool of natural resources, and the pattern, at which those natural resources are utilized in the process of economic growth. If the pattern is a very systematic one and is regulated by the governments of that nation, then attainment of sustainable economic growth can never be a big problem for those nations. However, it has been seen in most of the cases that the consumption pattern is not at all systematic, and in turn, the economic growth of those nations turns out to be unsustainable. Natural resources are deemed as Public Goods and that is the reason, the citizens do not impose legitimate value on those resources. They share the fate of any other public property, despite the rules and regulations being set by the governments in order to protect them.

Economists across the world have observed this phenomenon for several years, and they have come up with two hypotheses in order to put forth their thoughts and concerns. Those two hypotheses are as per the following:

  • First is the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis. This hypothesis talks about an inverted U-shaped association between economic development (measured by per capita income) and environmental degradation (measured in per capita terms). According to this hypothesis, when a nation is at a least development stage, they try to consume their natural resources to the full extent in order to achieve the economic growth, as at that point, that is the only major amount of capital freely available to them. At this stage, environmental degradation grows with per capita income. For a developing nation, when the per capita income attains a certain stage, certain environmental awareness arises among the citizens, which lead towards gradual reduction of environmental degradation. That per capita income is referred to as the Turnaround point of the curve. For the developing nations, the awareness is higher than that of the developing nations and they have proper environmental protection regulations at place, and therefore they can achieve the least possible environmental degradation.

  • Second is Resource Curse hypothesis. It has been seen that a country with a huge pool of natural resources grows less than a country having less amount of the same. They try to export those resources to other nation in order to appreciate their exchange rate, and on the other hand, the corporate houses in those nations lack innovational capabilities, which can add to lower growth in their national income.

Green house gas effects on earth

5/25/2014

Earth is surrounded by atmosphere which is made of several layers of gas. Green house gases are important. These include water vapour, ozone, methane, co2, chlorofluoro carbons, and nitrous oxide. Some of the green house gases are created by the activities of man. Burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, gas releases carbon dioxide. Chlorofluoro carbons which are used in sprays, fridges are very harmful when released in large amounts into the atmosphere.  When the gases keep on increasing the balance of the gases gets changed and effects the whole environment.  Higher temperature will make the water in the seas expand. In the regions like Antarctica, Greenland the ice gets melted and the water flows into sea, oceans which will gradually result in rise of the sea levels. Low lying coastal areas get affected by the increased sea levels. Changes in weather affects the growth of different types of crops in different regions. Due to changes in the weather the amount of rainfall will get affected. Due to changes in the temperature plants, animals, human beings will also get affected.

Some of the personal and basic ways to reduce green house effect are try to use fewer natural resources. Car pooling or using public transport can reduce usage of fuels. Switch off the electricity when not in use. Using of recyclable tins, plastic covers, and cans is one of the ways to reduce this effect.

The importance of location while buying property

2/3/2014

One of the most important aspects of buying property is location. This is usually the first thing that home buyers look for when they are purchasing either a commercial plaza for working from or a home to live in. Location is important whether one is buying property for investment purposes or for lifetime ownership.

The property should be located in an area that is safe. There should not be the threat of any criminal elements frequenting the area. The area should also be well lit with plenty of people residing near the property. In case the property is a commercial establishment, it is preferable if the clients of the business are located nearby. In case, it is a home, the commute to work should not take too long, and schools and daycare homes should be nearby.

Those at the upper strata of society are particularly selective about the brand value of the home they are buying. They want the home to be in a place that is posh and has tremendous snob value. There are always certain areas of a city where the richest and most fashionable people reside. Homes and commercial properties in such places command high rates.

Wondered About Magnetism

10/14/2013

Centuries passed and many more men wondered as Thales had wondered about magnetism. It happened in the year 1600 in London, England, where Sir William Gilbert served as physician to Queen Elizabeth I. Gilbert was a respected member of the Queen’s court and a brilliant man. He had published everything in a book called De Magnete what he had discovered about magnetism. It was the result of several years of thinking and experimenting. He was fascinated by magnetism and was determined to learn more about it. He discovered that there were other substances besides amber, such as sulphur, glass and sealing wax that would attract small particles when they were rubbed. He also discovered that certain materials showed no attraction whatever; no matter how much they were rubbed. He coined a new word in his book. He called the mysterious attraction electricity, which he got from Elektra, the Greek word for amber.

In De Magnete Gilbert carefully classified all the materials that were the subjects of his experiments. He listed the things he tried and pointed out the ones that showed attraction and the ones that did not. He also pointed out the subjects that exerted a greater degree of attraction than others. To classify things more accurately, he invented a machine that he called an electroscope. It was a simple device, consisting of little more than a straw that was balanced so that it could swing freely. Gilbert rubbed an object and placed it in machine. Then he watched the straw to see if it would be attracted or not to the objects. Gilbert kept careful notes, and accounts of all these experiments were contained in his book.

Gilbert never learned what caused the strange attraction. But his careful observations and the records of his experiments served as a basis for some of the great discoveries in electricity that was to follow. Little he did know as he turned the pages of the volume that his work would create great controversy.  He was later called the “Father of Electricity”. That mysterious force now had a name. Many scientists were not eager to accept new ideas. They were satisfied with the explanations of the wonders of nature that had been handed down from ancient Greece. However, some scientists believed and were impressed with Gilbert’s scientific approach. They were interested in his findings and were eager to learn more about the new force called Electricity.

Motion as the Mode of Existence of Matter

9/15/2013

Knowledge of the universal forms of the existence of matter is of great importance for a scientific understanding of the world, and motion is one of these major forms.  There is nothing in the world but matter in motion. All objects –atoms, molecules, living organisms, the surface of the earth, planets, stars, galaxies and so on-are in a state constant motion and change. So motion is universal. There is no matter without motion.

But the universality of motion and change in the world does not rule out elements of rest. In the course of any motion and change, the moving, changing object also has some stability, retaining some of its properties over a certain period of time. So motion is inseparable from rest and stability. But rest has a temporary, relative nature.

A sleeping man is in a state of rest, but the rest is only relative, for without changing his position with regard to the objects in the room and to the house itself, the man is moving together with the

Earth, and various complex physiological changes, circulation of the blood, breathing and other processes are going on within him. So rest and stability are relative, while motion is absolute. While being in a state of rest in one respect, any object is in a state of constant change and motion in other aspects. The idea that motion is universal and is inseparable from matter was expressed by many philosophers. But pre-Marxian materialists gave motion a narrow and limited interpretation. The essence of motion was reduced to a change of location in space. Motion was seen from outside, from the standpoint of a change in the location of objects, rather than a change of the objects themselves. In fact, the motion of matter includes not only mechanical movement of objects, but all the changes that happen to them.

Among the diverse forms of matter in motion, the important ones are: the mechanical form of the motion of matter (changes in the location of bodies in space in relation to one another), diverse physical forms of motion (heat, sound, electromagnetic, intra-atomic, intra-nuclear, etc.), the chemical form of motion (formation and break-up of molecules constituting diverse substances), the biological form of motion (organic life in all in its diverse manifestations, the changes taking place in living organisms) and the social form of motion (development of the human society).

All forms of the motion of matter are strictly interconnected and interdependent. Some forms of motion are prerequisites for the emergence of other forms.

Dialectics as Doctrine

9/10/2013

The concept of dialectics is used in the philosophy to mean the theory and method of cognition and transformation of reality. Materialist dialectics and philosophical materialism are the two interpenetrating aspects of the integral philosophical doctrine. Philosophical materialism deals with general questions of world outlook, with the nature of the surrounding world. Materialist dialectics answers the question of what is happening to the world, of whether it originated or exists eternally, whether it is immutable or keeps changing and developing.

Dialectics has been defined as the science of connections and also as the science of the universal laws of all motion and development. The principle of universal connection is considered in close unity with the principle of motion and development, for connection in the material world means interconnection and interaction is motion and development. The whole of nature accessible to people forms a system, an interconnected totality of bodies and by bodies it is understood here all material existences. These bodies are interconnected and react on one another. Thus, it is this mutual reaction that constitutes motion. That is why when dialectics is defined as the science of universal connections, the laws of motion and development. At the same time, in defining dialectics as the science of the universal laws of all motion, it is also implied universal connections, for there are no connections without interaction or motion, just as there is no motion without connections or interaction.

The dialectics materialism starts from the material unity of the world and the objectivity of all forms of motion and development of matter. Its materialist nature is most pronounced in the doctrine of objective and subjective dialectics. As a result, objective dialectics is motion and development in the material world itself as in an integral, interconnected whole. Subjective dialectics or dialectical thinking is the motion and development of thoughts, concepts etc which reflect objective dialectics in the human consciousness. Being a reflection of objective dialectics, subjective dialectics in its content coincides with the former. Both are governed by the same universal laws.

The subject of dialectics as a science is the universal objective principles of existence and the laws of development of the material world. Objective dialectics constitutes the content of subjective dialectics. That is why its basic laws and categories are simultaneously laws and categories both of being and cognition.
