What Are Accredited Online Degrees?

An accredited online college degree means that school offering the degree has been approved by the governing body and is considered a valid educational institution. It is possible to get an accredited college degree or an accredited education online but not all online schools are accredited. It is important to check whether or not a school is accredited before signing up for an online bachelors degree program since most bachelor’s degrees need to be accredited in order to be of any value.

Most employers would prefer to hire someone with an accredited online degree over someone with an unaccredited online degree. There are lots of different organizations that give schools accreditation so be sure when researching schools that the school has credible accreditation. One way to do that is to ask an admissions counselor directly what organizations have accredited the school before signing off.

What Schools Offer Accredited Online Degree Programs?

There are many schools that offer accredited online degrees. Some schools that offer online accredited online degrees are only on the Internet, some are brick and mortar colleges and universities that offer online learning as well as traditional classroom learning. Accredited online degree programs sometimes cost more than unaccredited degree programs but having an accredited online degree will be of more benefit in the long run than having an unaccredited degree. There is no formal alliance of online schools that offer accredited college degrees but there are accreditation services that will list all the schools that hold accreditation. When contacting an educational counselor or admissions counselor for an online college or university be sure to ask about the school’s accreditation. Double-check that the degree they offer is an accredited online university degree before signing up or paying any tuition. Whether it is for an online bachelor’s degree, or an online PhD degree, be sure the degree is accredited.

Pros And Cons Of Online Learning

Just like anything, there are also pros and cons of online learning. If you ask various professors, each of them has his/her personal views. The views may also be critical to your decision, especially if you are planning to achieve a higher degree in the undergraduate program that you carried out in your college. Anyway, below is a list of the pros and cons of online education.

PROS

1. One of the benefits of online education is that students can still actively participate in the class even if they are not physically present because of other commitments that their schedule no longer permits.
2. Geographic location can also be a hindrance but with online learning, it is no longer in being because by furnishing a computer with an internet connection, the ball can just start rolling.
3. This system is also an advantage to individuals who have some bodily defects such as not being able to walk because of an accident, for example. With distance education, they do not have to move to another place away from their residence.
4. Benefits of online learning include having a room that is accessible 24x7. You do not even have to wake up early in the morning to follow punctuality because there will be no professor checking the time of your arrival.
5. You might forget, lessons will be delivered in a virtual setting where there is even hardly a meeting with the entire group unless there will be a scheduled period. Distance education is asynchronous where different mediums will be employed for lecturing.

CONS

Since this article is about the pros and cons of online learning, it would now be proper to touch on the weakness.
1. One of the problems is the lack of access to an internet connection. This is an important consideration knowing already that the setting is a virtual one. Therefore, with a view to establishing mutual communication between a student and a professor, there should be a common link even if they are miles apart. In this case, the tie that will bind them together is the power of the information.
2. Unfortunately, there are still some individuals who cannot afford to pay fixed cheap monthly bills.
3. Another constraint of online learning is computer literacy. Once you have enrolled in any program offered by an open university, you have to acquire a certain level of knowledge of the computer with regards to operating it. You also have to be acquainted with navigation of the World Wide Web as well as electronic mails, file transfer protocol procedures, and newsgroups.
4. Students feel isolated while learning and may find that they are frustrated at the inability to grasp a concept.
5. The lack of instructor-led course material can make the learning curve steep for some.

There are still a lot of other pros and cons of online learning that will guide you to resolve a final decision, whether you enroll in a program offered by an open university or adhere to the conventional manner of going to school.

Environmental Degradation and Economic Growth

4/25/2014

If we look at the developing and developed countries across the world, we can see that energy consumption is the major driver of economic growth. However, to achieve this economic growth, continuous consumption of fossil fuel is needed to take place for generation of energy, which is in turn causing environmental degradation, in terms of air pollution, water pollution, and deforestation. Ambient air pollution is increasing in industrial and residential areas due to concentration of greenhouse gases. Sedimentation of industrial wastes is in turn causing water contamination, by fecal coliform formations. Rise in international trade has increased the level of shipping, which in turn is destroying the coral reefs, so as done by the natural oil exploration projects by private parties. Rapid industrialization and need for more agricultural fields, numbers of forests are being destroyed, which in turn is causing the soil erosion and loss of biodiversity. Overall impacts of this fossil fuel based economic growth can be seen in term of climatic shift, which is causing the rise in surface temperature, increase in the level of ocean, and changes in the patterns of downpour. To know more about the effects of economic growth on environment, kindly browse through the pages of learningwithkevin.com.

Learn to write a great proposal

12/5/2013

Since the proposal is the one of the first tasks that the student undertakes, it can be quite intimidating. Especially since, the review committee usually evaluates the completed dissertation or thesis in light of the proposal. The findings and discussions at the end of the research are considered as an extension of the proposed research questions. Lack of clarity in a thesis proposal is detrimental to the success of the research project and the academic prospects of the student.

A well-defined proposal would not only ensure success of the thesis but also help the scholar to write his thesis easily and much faster than otherwise. Dissertation help would assist the scholar to adopt a systematic approach towards formulation of the proposal thereby highlighting the key elements of the thesis. The theoretical and conceptual framework of the proposal, the methodology, the purpose, and the research design can be effectively highlighted in the proposal of the thesis or dissertation itself with the help of an experienced and knowledgeable Dissertation expert.

However, for good results, it is essential to choose a service provider carefully. Ideally, a dissertation help service must assist the scholar in forming a proposal that is rational, well conceptualized, and written using proper language giving a fair idea about the outline of the research. In-depth inputs must be taken from the student himself to ensure that nothing is lost in translation. It is a good idea to take the proposal writing help from well-reputed organizations who have catered to clientele and offer well-experienced scholars or experts for this purpose.

How to Find Oil

9/15/2013

Noah was the first successful oilman from Biblical record. Throughout history, people have used petroleum that came from the ground for building of boat, warfare as a material in Greek fire, which is an ancient form of napalm used by the Byzantine navy, also used as a laxative. The petroleum geology research group has collated nearly 200 places where petroleum is seeping out through soil and rock outcrops. Although, the seeps may be a result of modern pollution, but this may be unlikely too. Many were framed prior to the creation of the internal combustion engine. Moreover, the composition of natural petroleum differs from that of refined oil. The oily iridescence produced by iron salts on stagnant pools in peat bogs should not be confused with the iridescence produced by petroleum. The former breaks into jagged rafts when you prod it, while the genuine article flows in smooth curves.

Most petroleum comes originally from sedimentary rocks- source rocks in the language of the oil business-containing plenty of organic matter usually formed in lakes or shallow seas. If these rocks were heated up to the right temperature when they were buried, the organic molecules reacted to make oil and gas. Oil reservoirs form when the hydrocarbons move away from the source rocks and accumulate in a permeable area of rock, often sandstone. In places, the petroleum oozes from the ground; elsewhere, it fills fissures and pores within the rock as what is called an impregnation.

The seepages are principally within sedimentary strata-the old Red Sandstone-but they also fill veins and fissures in metamorphic rocks. In the 19th century the local blacksmith used to quarry these veins of pitch to fire his forge. The seepage and impregnation comes principally from layers of shale rich in organic matter, within the old Red Sandstone itself. These shales were mud in lakes some 400 million years ago; the oil of at least one sea field probably came from the same source.

Elsewhere there are reports of petroleum in strange places, including impermeable igneous and metamorphic rocks that the conventional petroleum prospector would regard as barren. The hydrocarbons are far away from conventional source beds from which they could have migrated. For example, there are lumps of ozocerite, plastic, waxy paraffin oil, on the shores; bitumen impregnates granites. A few kilometers away, there was seepage of petroleum from fractured schist sufficiently abundant and pure for a local farmer to run his tractor on it. Suspecting that the farmer had found his fuel from some recent spill or a leaking tank somewhere, Customs and Excise officers tried to trace it. But even their best efforts could not find a suitable, taxable source.
