Overview of Depression

Depression is a condition that causes a variety of problems for those associated with it. Believe it or not, depression is a disease that can kill you because many people do not take it seriously enough. Depression of all types is very much something that can lead you down the wrong path. Consider teen depression to be the most problematic because many parents have no idea that their child is suffering through this condition. Other forms of depression like manic depression and postpartum depression are just as worrisome to your health. Take some time to figure out what is happening to you so that you can get the help you need.

Depression Test: finding out what is happening

For those who are suffering from depression, the hardest part of the process is getting help. Most people do not realize that they need help and those around them may not recognize the symptoms of depression. Those symptoms include problems like withdrawing from your daily life, being unhappy all of the time and not finding any happiness in things that you once loved to do. These symptoms of depression can be different from one person to the next one. That makes it even more difficult to notice the signs of depression.
Learning about depression is important

The various types including bipolar depression, postpartum depression and clinical depression are all situations where different symptoms can be seen and the difference really lies in the treatment that is needed and the underlying cause of this condition. People experience depression because of a tendency in genes or even because of the trauma that they face in their lives. An imbalance of hormones can also cause depression in many.

Dealing with Depression through medical treatment

Once people finally realize that they have something that is causing their depressive feelings, they can seek out the help they need. What is depression? The symptoms of the mental state that you face can help to define just what depression is for you. Noticing the signs of depression in those you love can help to get them the help that they need. Depression medication today is advanced enough to provide necessary help and guidance. Depression treatment is not horrible but contrarily it is positive and life-enhancing. The end result is that the mental state can be lessened and life can be lived when these symptoms are noticed and help is sought. Depression symptoms are a regular feature for many but they do not have to be like that for you.

Anger Management: How to Placate Yourself When Your Child Makes You Teed off

Parenting is a rewarding experience that everyone hankers for at some point of their life. When one becomes a parent, he/she promises to provide the child with as much comfort as one can. However, it seems extremely arduous to materialise this dream because of the endless tantrums, desires and unrealistic demands of children.

The tiring pressure of workload, appointments, health issues, financial worries, and child’s future gets on the parents’ nerves at times, which makes them vent their frustration on the child himself. It is more than common to see parents get angry on their children. The reason behind can be valid, or contrastingly, totally irrational at other times.
At any cost, in any situation, letting out your anger on the child is not acceptable. Extreme wrath can in fact take a toll on your health, and hamper the bond between you and your child. Here comes the dire need of anger management techniques to keep you going in the race towards perfect parenting!

Anger management techniques for you as a parent to improve the emotional bond with your child

Identify the source of your irritation
Notice the early signs of anger; it can be anything that sets your teeth on edge. Once you notice you’re furious, take a deep breath to let up your anxiety and stress. However, it’s not easy as you’ll have only a second to identify it and keep yourself from losing your rag. So when you feel a streak of anxiety are about to engulf you any moment, take a deep breath to control your emotions and then calmly tell your child the right way to behave.

Accept the fact that your child will continue to push your buttons
You usually get offended because your children don’t do what you want them to do. The best solution is to be prepared that your children will leave no chance to push your buttons. But understand that they do not do it deliberately; they do it because they are children! Don't take their actions to heart. Instead, you should politely convey to them what is right and what is wrong. Further, if your children make irrational demands, try to divert their attention to other activities such as games.

Reflect on the situation to handle a similar event in future
Every day you find yourself stuck in a new situation and managing to control your indignation, but sometimes it goes beyond your patience and you vent your spleen. If you feel that your anger is assuaged, it’s a good idea to reflect on the situation and learn from the experience. Think about why you got upset, what made you edgy, and more importantly, what makes your baby happy and how could you tackle the situation better?

Show affection towards your child
Tackling a cranky child can be difficult, but sometimes a sudden hug and other affectionate gesture can immediately soothe your child. Try to treat your child’s ill behaviour with as much affection as you can to improve his psyche and your bond.

Fact of life:
Children are entirely dependent on their parents for food, shelter, protection, care and affection; therefore, it’s crucial that you understand their feelings and emotions to give them the most comfortable environment.

Also a universal fact:
You’re a human being and it’s natural that you get hacked off your children’s behaviour, but as a mature adult you must think that towering over your child and yelling at him mounts up great fear in them and impairs your bond. Find different and personalised ways to tackle situations when you get angry due to your children or other reasons to set an example of the best parenting.

A child learns as much at home as at school. To say that teachers in the school are responsible for all the learning that your child can be subjected to, would be, to say the least, completely wrong. As you may have experienced yourself, learning is a lifelong process. And the onus to help your child become a lifelong leaner lies on you more than anyone else. How can you, therefore, accomplish this, mind you, mammoth task of raising lifelong learners?

These dietary fibers or roughages are the indigestible portion of vegetable-based food of our diet. Although the fibers do not contribute to any energy or nutrients, however, they form an important part of the human intake. Lack of dietary fibers can lead to serious health implications like constipation, diverticulitis, colon cancer etc.

Picture
A diet rich in fibers provides several benefits such as:
  • Keeping blood sugar levels in check by reducing the release of glucose into the blood stream.
  • Reducing plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels
  • Giving a filling feel by providing water holding capacity

The benefits of fibers is also supported by the 2014 American Journal of Clinical Nutrition study which supports the fact that people with a higher fiber intake enjoy a longer lifespan as compared to those with a lower intake. Further, the high-fiber diet also helps in reaching one’s fitness goals.

High Fiber diet works in a two-way mechanism; Firstly, it reduces hunger, thereby helping in preventing from overeating. Secondly, it helps in improving the blood sugar control. This goes a long way in reducing fat storage.

For those interested in leading a healthy life, here are the top 5 fiber foods:

1 Lentils: fiber count-15 grams per 1/4 cup

If you want to enhance your protein level, make lentils a regular part of your diet. They have the third-highest level of protein. However, the red (or pink) lentils contain a lower concentration of fiber than green lentils.

2 Kidney beans: fiber count: 14 grams per 1 cup

If you want to save money while enjoying the benefit of high fiber diet, then kidney beans is the right choice for you. They are inexpensive, convenient, overloaded with fiber and other vital nutrients, and are extremely versatile in the kitchen.

3 Split peas: fiber count: 13 grams per 1/4-cup

Known for possessing plenty of plant protein and folate, which helps in the fight against hypertension, Split peas is a blessing for those fighting odds with the said disease.

4 Chickpeas: fiber count: 11 grams per 1 cup

The other name for Chickpeas is garbanzo beans, which have high amounts of fiber, plant protein, iron, and vitamin B6, the latter of which is necessary for a healthy nervous system. So those battling with nervous disorders should include chickpeas in their diet.

5 Black beans: fiber count: 8.5 grams per 1/2 cup

Black beans are good for your heart. So if you are weathering the odds of heart diseases, black beans is a must for you.

Similarly, right from birth to infanthood, things that make babies happy, keep changing

When a baby is just born and does nothing other than feed, the only thing it needs is the comforting touch of a parent. The contact of the baby’s skin with the mother’s or the father’s helps it identify its parents and the growth of the baby with this small initiative, gets extremely healthy.

As the baby starts to look around and explores surroundings, it looks for dynamic things. Things that move or flutter, like a ceiling fan or just a fluttering sheet of paper, are the things that it will notice and smile at and make friends with.

Finally, the crawling months bring more diverse kind of happiness for the baby and sleepless nights for the parents. The baby will want to crawl to a secluded corner and find the best piece of dirt to savour. Though this is just out of curiosity, the best a parent can do is keep the baby crawling, let it pick up the dirt and dive just in time to save the baby from eating it.

These are some of the ways in which a baby feels happy and the parents feel happier!

Before throwing the medicine container, remove the label on it so that no one can read it. Read the instruction on the inhalers before throwing them because inhalers are generally used by people who have asthma and other breathing problems. These inhalers have chlorofluorocarbons which damages the ozone layer. So while purchasing the inhalers check whether they are environmentally friendly inhalers or not.
