A baby craves for different things at different levels of growth, just as we have different aspirations at different ages. At the age of 5 we wanted to be an astronaut, but as we grew older and realized life is not easy, we were happy with the prospects of a banking job. Similarly, right from birth to infanthood, things that make babies happy, keep changing
When a baby is just born and does nothing other than feed, the only thing it needs is the comforting touch of a parent. The contact of the baby’s skin with the mother’s or the father’s helps it identify its parents and the growth of the baby with this small initiative, gets extremely healthy.
As the baby starts to look around and explores surroundings, it looks for dynamic things. Things that move or flutter, like a ceiling fan or just a fluttering sheet of paper, are the things that it will notice and smile at and make friends with.
Finally, the crawling months bring more diverse kind of happiness for the baby and sleepless nights for the parents. The baby will want to crawl to a secluded corner and find the best piece of dirt to savour. Though this is just out of curiosity, the best a parent can do is keep the baby crawling, let it pick up the dirt and dive just in time to save the baby from eating it.
These are some of the ways in which a baby feels happy and the parents feel happier!
